Shoshin (初心) is a new series that is in process. The title refers to the Zen concept of “Beginner’s Mind.” The works are abstract but they are also guarded, so to speak, by two figures known as Nio (仁王) or protectors against evil spirits and thoughts. The show will have the Nio paintings at the entrance, allowing attendees to pass between them, before entering the space of Shoshin.
